他们是朋友还是魔鬼 这些随行的怪异悲吼， 这些嘶哑凄惨的节奏， 是来自他们的悲哀深处？ 他们是否会包围和逗留？ 成为孤旅者的诅咒，
在他周围编织咒语， 酿造的和兄弟不会走出他们的地狱？ 对他迷惑和扭曲 从崎岖隐蔽的小路， 让他远方徘徊，止步犹豫， 同时颤栗在 沙漠和孤独之中 如此可怕又如此严峻， 他那狂热的幻想， 黑暗中裹住他一个人？

The wind has spent its fierce wild wail, The darkstorm-pall has shifted, Forth on his sight the stars gleam pale In the purplinghaze uplifted.
And down the steep trail, as he lists, He hears softmusic stealing; It trembling falls through filmy mists, From rock-wallsfaint echoes pealing.
Whence comes this mystic night-song With its rhythm wild and free, With is pleading and entreaty Pouring forth upon the sea Of darkness, vast and silent, Like a tiny ray of hope That oft-times comes to comfort When in sorrow’s depths we grope?
’Tis the An-gu, the Kat-ci-na, ’Tis the Hopi’s song of prayer,
That in darkness wards off danger, When ’tis breathed in the air; Over desert, butte, and mesa, It is borne out on the night, Dispelling fear and danger, Driving evil swift a-flight.
