(十六) 人多谓古诗不能译成白话,更不能译成外语,其实未必尽然。试以唐人张泌《寄人》一诗为例:“别梦依依到谢家,小廊回合曲阑斜。多情只有春庭月,犹为离人照落花。”诗中时空错杂,情景交融,以当日之欢愉与此夜之怅惘对照,衬出诗人对情侣之深挚怀念。黄润苏先生译之以新诗云:盼啊,从秋到夏;寻啊,地角天涯。如今,我披起梦的轻纱......这庭院如前,曲栏依旧,分明又到伊家。但为何,我把回廊穿绕,栏干抚遍,却不见她?......晚风吹,人无踪,篱栅影儿斜。娟娟月,怜我如故,把清辉洒向片片落花。字数虽数倍于原诗,不及原诗精炼含蕴,然低徊之情,惝恍之境,悉为保留,别具复沓摇曳之美,就此点而言,似为原诗所不及。再看济勒斯(GILES)之英译诗:After parting, dreams possesse dmeand I wandered you know where. And we sat in the verandah and you sang the sweat old air. Then I woke, with no one near me save the moon still shining on. And lighting up dead petals which like you have passed and gone. 译笔甚为空灵,尤觉绝妙者,改原诗之第三人称为第二人称,读来倍感亲切。虽不如原诗之蕴藉,亦不如黄译之摇曳,而明白晓畅,似又过之。要之,上引译诗二首,均能曲曲传出原诗韵味,可见诗并非不能译,唯不能"死译","硬译"耳。 |
